Michael Ungar, Ph.D., is a Family Therapist, Professor of Social Work at Dalhousie University, and a global leader in resilience research. He is the founder and Director of the Resilience Research Centre and holds the Canada Research Chair in Child, Family, and Community Resilience. Ranked the world's number one Social Work scholar in 2022, Dr. Ungar is the author of over 250 peer-reviewed articles and 17 books, and is best known for his practical, strengths-based approach to understanding resilience.

Dr. Ungar describes resilience as a process shaped by supportive relationships, access to resources, and systems that respond well during times of stress. His work focuses on improving outcomes for children, youth, and families, particularly those facing mental health challenges. As part of this work, he will be delivering two FREE presentations on practical, strengths-based ways to support resilience in children and youth: one presentation designed for parents and educators; and one for educators, mental health clinicians and other professionals who work with youth.
