Position Description: The ASD Service Specialist will deliver evidence-based interventions to facilitate skill acquisition and development for program attendees in the areas of communication, social interaction, vocational training, activities of daily living, recreation, leisure, and community integration.
The ASD Service Specialist will provide training and facilitate both the supervision and support of each attendee throughout their day programming to ensure their safety and well-being, while promoting independence and respecting individuals’ choices, needs and rights.
Most service recipients attend MAAP to increase their ability to appropriately respond in social situations, to participate in the community, and to increase job-related skills so that they may gain varying levels of employment experience. Others’ service focus is on more basic daily living and communication skills. These may include self-care tasks, such as hygiene and grooming.
Regardless of the therapeutic focus, ASD Service Specialists receive invaluable clinical experience, working as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, whose mission is to ensure that adults with autism lead more independent and enriched lives.
A Bachelor’s degree is required and 1-2 years of experience working with clients on the autism spectrum is preferred.
